How it Works ?
The Kilowatt Master is a Power Factor Correction Unit that stores the Reactive Power (non-working power or KVAR)
needed for the creation of an Electromagnetic-Field (EMF) within the motor (Inductive load). This allows your inductive motor load to push in
and pull
stored power from the Kilowatt Master Unit instead of asking for more
from the utlity company. This process decreases your demand from the
utility company thereby decreasing your Kwh usage and lowering your
electric bill each month ! see also :: Power Factor :: Domestic Energy Consumption
An Inductive load is anything that runs by motor including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps, washers, dryers, fans, blower motors, pool pumps, dish washers, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers ... you get the picture!
All motors require a certain amount of Reactive Power (non-working power) to create the Electro-Magnetic-Field around the motor to make it work. The problem is that your local utility company delivers that reactive power to your home without knowing how much you really need. Your inductive load (motors) then uses what it needs and sends the rest back to your electric panel where it is "lost" - dispersed in heat never to be seen again. This loss is called 12R loss or "line loss". You pay for this lost electricity, because is has traveled thru your meter.
The Kilowatt Master Unit stores the otherwise wasted electricity and supplies it back to your inducive loads (motors), thus causing you to decrease your demand. Your meter slows down and you use less electricity. This whole process is called Power Factor Optimization. |
